Skiff - Plans $85
The skiff is a very basic flat bottomed hull that is not much different that a very wide jon boat without the strakes. It has a very wide front end which allows a shallow amount of rocker and a slightly narrower aft end with a little more rocker allowing the hull to lift up over the current. At 55" wide it is very stable although the very low sides do not make it conducive to having stand up kneebraces. The basic idea of a skiff is to get rid of all the extras to make it very simple and allow one to fish very effectively from a sitting position. Three pedestals and a side shelf with integrated rod storage (along with lack of kneebraces) allow for ease of movement throughout the boat, even while underway. Weight is approx. 230 lbs finished. -
Kingfisher - Plans $175.00
The Kingfisher is my biggest boat. The side panels are 17' making it right at 16' in a straight line. The specific design is built around the idea that flyrod storage is best when they are in a straight line. So with the length of the boat I have made shelves on either side which house the rods without tubes and without bending them. They can be accessed from either the front or the back or the middle. Additionally, the side dry storage is made so that it is long rather than wide and you can accommodate rod tubes and chairs and nets inside. Some other features are the ability to walk down the boat back and forth with a minimum of things to step over. Even though this boat is the largest at 350 lbs. it draws very little water being wider 1t 57" and will float in just inches. -
The Guide - Plans $125.00
The Guide model is a little larger than the Classic. It is wider at 55" at the bottom and has both built in level floors and built in dry storage boxes. The side panels are the same size but could be extended if you want a longer boat. Originally I designed it with an aft bench seat but now I have changed it to have an aft pedestal as well. The boat is designed with the features built in so even though you could modify the classic, this set of plans includes the modifications already drawn in for you. It's wide and light and can go anywhere. -
The Classic- Plans $80
The classic is my version of the smaller McKenzie river dory in stitch and glue construction. The hull itself is very simple with a 48" bottom and just under 16' sides. It will hold three but two are just right. I have plans for a 12' and 15' boat and if you want to stretch it to 16' you'll have to add an extra foot of side panel.
